Preparing For Your Engagement Shoot

It’s always a little intimidating to have your picture taken, even if it’s just a photo on an iPhone that is taken by a friend, we still want to look nice, make sure nothing is in our teeth and that our hair (or beard) is behaving. We realize that preparing for your engagement session can be a little nerve-wracking, so here are some things we’ve learned over the years from photographing many engagement sessions.

We have no doubt we’ll create some great, colorful and fun photos no matter what. We are extremely laid back, but also want to ensure that you both look and feel good. On the following pages are some general tips to make sure you feel as comfortable as possible during the shoot.

We’re constantly surprising couples by discovering their hidden modeling skills and the most common response from our couples, women and men alike, is “that wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be! It was actually fun.” Boom! When you both say that taking pictures was fun, we’ve done our  job well! Here are some outfit tips to make sure you’re looking and feeling your best on the day of your shoot.

Last but not least, remember to have patience with your partner and yourself and try to relax. You don’t have to be a pro at this! We are going to help you along the way and it’s going to be a blast. If you’re a little anxious about what this whole ‘pictures’ thing is going to be like, you’re not alone. We receive so many emails from clients who are worried about this. But we have great news, you and your partner are both more photogenic than you think! Don’t assume that you’re not going to have a good time, this is supposed to be a fun, laid back experience for you both. This attitude will come through in your photos and make them even better! Plus we can get food or coffee afterwards.
